What happens during a HIV screening?

When a patient comes into our clinic for a HIV screening, a series of questions will first be asked to find out about the patient’s exposure and concerns. Some counseling will also be carried out before the test is being done.

After that, tests will be carried out, in the form of a blood test or a rapid test. The results from the rapid test can be processed within a few minutes, while the blood sample from the blood test will be sent to the lab for testing. Results for the blood test typically comes in 24-48 hours after the visit. After that, our patients will be informed whether the results are positive or negative.
